The challenge

Community giveaways meant spreadsheets, picking winners by hand and accusations of rigged results. Checking whether entrants actually joined the Discord server was manual work, and no organiser could prove afterwards that a draw had been fair.

What we built

A platform that makes every giveaway checkable from start to finish, with a dashboard where hosts build, run and wrap up a giveaway on their own.

A dashboard to create and run giveaways

Creating a giveaway opens a draft with four tabs: Details, Actions, Prizes and, once it is live, Overview. Everything saves as a draft until the host presses Start.

Before a giveaway can start, the dashboard checks that everything is in place: every action has what it needs, every prize has a title and the plan's limits are met. The host then shares the link, and live giveaways also show up on a public page where people browse, search and sort them.

Entries that are checked, not trusted

Entering needs a Discord login, so every entry belongs to a real account. Discord membership is checked against the participant's own Discord account, secret codes are checked on the server and the daily bonus has a real 24-hour cooldown. Each person counts once, and a second account entering the same giveaway from the same connection is refused.

Draws anyone can verify

When a giveaway is created, GetGiven seals a secret number and publishes its fingerprint straight away. When the giveaway ends, the list of entries is frozen and published too, and the winners follow from a public formula that uses only those two things. Nobody chooses. Anyone can press Verify draw and recalculate every winner in their own browser, re-rolls included, and every re-roll is counted in public.

Plans, payments and an admin area

A free plan, a one-time Giveaway Pass and a monthly Premium plan, all paid through Stripe, with the limits enforced on the server rather than only in the browser. Behind it sits a private admin area with platform statistics, every giveaway, all subscriptions and passes, and revenue read straight from Stripe.

The result

GetGiven has been live since 2024: more than 11,000 users, over 1,000 giveaways and 42,000+ participants checked and drawn. The fair draw did its job: not a single dispute about who won.

The platform still runs for its users today, and we keep it running. New features paused in 2026, when the new ideas started going into MyChar. That is a choice we can make because GetGiven is our own product: it stays online, secure and up to date while we build the next thing. Client software works the other way around. As long as you want it to grow, we keep building on it.
